Chandler Greene The Giants recently acquired Brandon Marshall on a 2 year 12 million dollar deal (ESPN). Once the Jets released Marshall, unwillingly, Giants made a deal on the 11 year veteran. The Jets Organization didn't want to release Marshall at first, because he was their star receiver. According to ESPN, Marshall parted ways with the Jets because of the, “not so good” relationship between him and the front office . The relationship wasn't the worse but, Marshall didn't agree with how the front office were moving forward with the franchise. Thus, the Jets did not have a good season this past year which added fuel to the fire. It was only a matter of time until Marshall was going to request a release from the team.
On the other hand, Marshall has been on 5 different NFL teams, counting the Giants, since being drafted in 2006. The previous 4 teams were the Broncos, Dolphins, Bears, and the Jets. “In 2015, Brandon Marshall was the best Marshall I’ve ever seen,” said by Darren Battle ‘18. In 2015, Brandon Marshall was on the Jets and recorded 109 receptions, 1,502 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns . Marshall set a season high in touchdowns by grabbing 14 that year .“He revived his career from that great season,” said by Darren Battle.” Brandon Marshall was 31 years of age during that season. At that age most NFL receivers, start the downfall of their careers, but not for Marshall. “Brandon Marshall in 2012 when he was on the Bears, that was vintage Marshall,” argued by Isaias Martinez ‘18. Marshall recorded a staggering, 118 receptions, 1,508 receiving yards, and 11 touchdowns in that season. Marshall set a season high in both receptions and receiving yards, leading his team to a playoff spot. After this milestone setting season, Marshall was looked at as a top premier receiver in the NFL. One you couldn't pass up in fantasy football leagues if he was still available. “Brandon Marshall in 2012, he was on the come up for sure,” according to Isaiah Williams ‘18. When Brandon Marshall was on the Dolphins he racked up 81 receptions, 1,214 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns . This was the third time he made the pro bowl in 4 years. He had a remarkable season and everyone knew from here on out to look out for Brandon Marshall. However, BMHS teacher Dr. Rich stated, “I don't know how people can forget about the 2007 Brandon Marshall,” Brandon Marshall had 102 receptions, 1,325 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns in 2007, which was his first 1,000 yard performance. “This season really put him on the map”, said by Dr. Rich. Even though he didn't make the pro bowl, he gained respect since this was his only second year in the league. This was a very big year for Marshall, if he didn't have this season, some say he wouldn't be the Marshall we all know today. With Marshall having his best statistical season in 2012, which would you pick to be the best Marshall?
