​After breaking the North American sports start of a season record with a 24-0 start, Curry and the Golden State Warriors were stopped last Saturday at Harris Bradley Center by the Milwaukee Bucks.

All Star shooting Guard Klay Thompson had a few words after Saturday’s game and said “ We missed shots. They didn’t shut us down. No one shuts us down.”

Based on his comments and attitude, he’s technically saying the Golden State Warriors doesn't have any worries. However, the league was shocked at the fact that the “best team in the NBA” lost.

JR. Smith was rooting for the Golden State to win until they host the Cavs because he said he wanted to end Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors streak on Christmas Day. “I was upset, I’m not going to lie, I wanted them to go undefeated until they played us” JR. said.

The Warriors weren’t sad because the lost, they were just disappointed  at the fact that the streak is over. Star Power Forward Draymond Green said in the postgame locker “ Y’all thought we were going to be sad.” 

That one lost doesn’t mean they’re season is over, they just failed to beat the 1972 Lakers winning streak which was 33. Stephen Curry after the game during his interview he said a few things like “ thirty-three was within our grasp”.

He was hungry for that streak and you saw it in his eyes before every game. Also Curry also mentioned that he was fatigued after the over-time lost.

Curry also mentioned that he laughed after the game because the celebration.  "Oh, it was a nice celebration. We do remember that stuff," Curry said. "We were kind of laughing at some of the stuff going on. 

It was a big game for them. Friday will be a big game for us." Stephen Curry and the Golden State warriors are ready to get payback on the Milwaukee Bucks tonight at 10:30PM at home. 

Be prepared to see tention and a lot of anger tonight.

Amari’s Pick: Carolina Panthers 

​Why I’m Right: The undefeated Carolina Panthers look to go 14-0 this week in the Meadowlands as they take on the New York Giants led by standout receiver Odell Beckham Jr. who has been torching secondaries week after week, making some of the best catches you’ll ever see. But even with Odell’s heroics, I just don’t see a way the Giants can pull this one out. The Panthers are on a roll and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Especially coming off a 38-0 shellacking of division rival Atlanta Falcons who boasts one the best of the best receivers in the game in Julio Jones and Josh Norman pretty much held him in check as the Falcons were shut out. Expect to see a similar result this Sunday with Odell Beckham as Josh Norman will follow him everywhere he goes. He will also have the #3 ranked defense along his side as the panthers only give up a shade over 300 yards a game. The Panthers aren’t only undefeated because of their defense, their offense is legit as well as they have the #3 rushing attack in the league rushing for over 141 yards per game, to go along with the MVP front-runner Cam Newton throwing darts to his receivers up and down the field. This doesn’t look good for the Giants as they have the last ranked defense in the NFL and that will be their downfall as the Panthers will win this game quite easily.

Amari’s Pick: Seattle Seahawks

​Why I’m Right: The Seahawks these past few weeks look like the Seahawks that played in the Super Bowl the past two years. The reason for this is that their defense has finally got back on track and look like to me, the best defense in the league. Even better than the undefeated Carolina Panthers defense. Last week the Seahawks took a major blow as running back Thomas Rawls suffered an ankle injury keeping him out for the rest of the year. Rawls is the backup for beast mode Marshawn Lynch so this is a little concerning for Seattle as Marshawn might be out for the season with a sports hernia. However quarterback Russell wilson has been playing phenomenal lately throwing for over 900 yards and 13 touchdowns in the last three games. So in this one expect the mediocre Johnny Manziel led Browns to take a L this Sunday in Seattle.

The Golden State Warriors have broken the North American best start with an undefeated record of 23-0. They passed the St. Louis Maroons record of  20-0 set by the baseball team in 1888 as the best record in North American sports.

 The Chicago Bulls 1995-96 team started off 12-0 as well as becoming the first team to have more than 70 wins in a single season as Michael Jordan just came back from his retirement and led his team into the finals for his fourth appearance.

The Golden State Warriors are on good form and haven’t played a team to slow them down. The 3 point King (Stephen Curry) is cooking and chopping each player that steps up in front of him.

Curry is currently the scoring leader, for field goals made, for 3 pointers made,  and  he is top 5 in free throws made. This man is up to a great start and is in the running to earn a back to back MVP recognition, and another chip. 

The 72-10, 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, shut the NBA down with an impressive ball game that led them to win the NBA Finals. It was led by a man that’s known as “The Greatest Basketball Player In History”, and that man’s name is Michael Jordan.

In the 1995-96 season, Michael Jordan played all 82 games, 111 made 3 pointers and scored 2491 in the season. Jordan was the leader in points with 30.4, and leading wins shared with 20.4. 

Stephen Curry, in the beginning of the season is at 6.0 wins shared. Ever since the former LA Lakers SG/SF Luke Walton joined the Golden State Warriors in the summer, they’ve been untouchable. 

The Warriors played 23 games so far and have a total of 2663 points. The Golden State Warriors this season made a big difference this year and made history with an incredible start on both the offensive and defensive end. 

Reviewing all these statistics on both of these teams will tell you that the Warriors are better than the 1995-96 Bulls. I’d choose the Warriors in Game 6 against the Chicago Bulls (95-96) team if they were to play in the Finals.

Brien McMahon’s Eric Van Der Els was named the Ruden Report Fall Player of the Year yesterday. Van Der Els beat out Greenwich soccer player Nick Bartles, New Canaan quarterback Michael Collins, and Darien defensive end Mark Evanchick for the honor. Although winning awards is nothing new to Van Der Els, this one holds a special place in the cross country phenom’s heart as it was won thanks in part to the his supporters. Four male athletes and four female athletes are nominated for the award, the winner for each gender from that point on is based solely on public voting. Van Der Els beat out Bartles by over 100 votes.
 
“Winning this award is a great honor especially with all the talented athletes we have in the FCIAC. I'm lucky to have such great supporters, including friends and family that helped me achieve this award.” Said the McMahon senior.
 
It’s been a busy fall for Van Der Els. After winning the FCIAC 1,600 (setting the FCIAC meet record in the process), he won the 1,600 and 3,200 at the Class LL meet, the 3,200 at the State Open, and finished second in the two-mile New England Championships. He also committed to the University of Connecticut to continue his running career next fall. 

​Brien McMahon senior Jeff Vitatoe recently committed to American International College (AIC) to play baseball, quite a feat considering he has only one year of varsity baseball under his belt.
 
The right-handed pitcher grew up with a baseball in his hand. By the time Vitatoe was four he was playing organized baseball, but it wasn’t until middle school that he realized his full potential as a player.
 
“Around seventh grade I knew I wanted to play in college.”, claims Vitatoe.
 
 After all, his play had landed him on all-star teams representing Norwalk summer after summer, and his name had become a regular in local papers. One couldn’t help but think he would continue his success in high school.
 
Then, his name all but disappeared from the local press. Thanks to his 6’0 frame and a fastball that was already reaching the low 80’s* his potential seemed to be unlimited, but Vitatoe finished his freshman and sophomore year with a combined record of 0-0.
 
“Freshman and sophomore year I didn’t play due to grades. I thought I was going to be able to slide by and not worry about them.” He explained.
 
After two years of failing to maintain the minimum GPA (1.7) to play sports at McMahon, a switch went off for Vitatoe.
 
“He ended up getting his work done, and got on himself a lot more.” Says Brien McMahon senior catcher Hunter Dumas. “His attitude became really strong, and really positive.”
 
Vitatoe says that what inspired him to turn his academic standing around was the thought of not playing in college.
 
“Junior year came around and I started to grow up. I realized I needed to do more to get where I wanted to be.”
 
Vitatoe made an immediate impact on the McMahon baseball team after getting his grades in order. After serving as a relief pitcher and outfielder for the first half of the season, he earned his way into the starting rotation.
 
In order to makeup for lost time, Vitatoe also began to travel to showcases. In fact, a showcase at Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts is where AIC first saw him.
 
After a recent visit, Vitatoe knew AIC couldn’t help but feel that AIC is where he belongs. Over the next four years he hopes an impact on the Yellow Jackets baseball program, but first and foremost he is focused on education.
 
“I would like to major in criminal justice or physical therapy.” He says.
 
Dumas, who has been a close personal friend of Vitatoe’s, is headed to East Georgia State College in the fall to pursue his own baseball dreams, but he is more than confident than Vitatoe will succeed at the next level.
 
“As long as he follows the rules, and does well in class he will do just fine.” He said of his buddy.
 
Before he graduates in June, Vitatoe has a chance to leave one last impression on Brien McMahon.
 
“I want to be remembered as the kid who got off his butt, and changed for the better, and one of the best pitchers to leave the school.”
