“ It is always good to start 1-0, especially when that first win comes against Norwalk High.” Quote from Varsity Baseball coach John Cross after Mcmahon Beat Norwalk 5-4 on March 31st at Pride Field.
Mcmahon won the game before it even started. The boys were focused when they warmed up and when they took Infield. They just looked sharp and had a positive energy about them [Infield and Outfield] Compared to Norwalk who fooled around and laughed all throughout warming up. You can just tell which team came to play that day and the results show that.

However, the bears took a 1-0 lead early due to two Mcmahon errors. This did not stop the Senators from roaring back. They scored the following half inning because of a throwing error by Joey Benincaso (Norwalk Pitcher), which caused the first run to cross the plate for the Senators.
The following inning Norwalk added two runs and the Senators answered with one to make the score 3-2 Norwalk after 4. This is the inning in which the Senators exploded. Junior catcher Chris Clemens led off the inning with a single into left field and then Sophomore Cooper Grillo added another single to place runners on first and second. Then Senior outfielder Jake Osborne came through with a rope into left field scoring Chris Clemens to tie the game! Kory Morton then plated Cooper Grillo with a run-scoring single and this gave Mcmahon the lead for good and they never looked back.
The Senators would add another run in the fifth inning and the score was 5-3 until the seventh inning. The Bears made a run by loading the bases with no outs but Junior pitcher Frankie Greco locked in and got a double play that unfortunately scored a run but also killed all of Norwalk’s momentum.
They were done and the Final score was 5-4. The Senators were ecstatic and all hugged each other and high fived each other on the mound. There is no better feeling at Mcmahon than beating Norwalk High.
Key stats: Kory Morton [‘20] had two hits and two rbis
Jack Fitzpatrick[‘20] Had two hits
Jake osborne[‘18] had one hit and one RBI
Chris Ehlers[‘18] had two hits
