To truly live life to the fullest, one must engage in something that brings them happiness and satisfaction. Whether it’s soccer players passionately playing for their sport or painters expressing themselves through art, everybody has something that makes them feel alive. In modern society, people are finding more and more ways to feel alive. “I feel most alive when I’m working on my farm in Ecuador,” says Jaime, an Ecuadorian farmer. “I love the smell of fresh grass and sounds of farm animals as I do chores around the land every morning. It’s an experience that will never grow old to me, I feel like myself out there when I’m getting dirty from all the hard-work I have to do everyday to maintain the farm.”
Knowing what activities make you feel most alive is essential to daily life. Research from the New York Times suggests that people are more likely to achieve their goals if they are fully aware of what makes them feel alive. Students at Brien McMahon High School are already reporting activities that make them feel alive, which is a really good thing considering they have more opportunity and time to make something big out of that activity. For example, Bryan Lemus, a Junior on the BMHS Varsity Soccer team, explains, “Soccer is something I am really passionate about and every time I play with my teammates or friends, I feel alive. I plan to go professional in the future.” Lemus’s love for soccer makes him dedicated to the sport and since he feels truly alive whilst playing the sport, he has goals to play on a professional level.
