When you walk into the classroom of Mrs.Harris, its like any other regular classroom at Brien McMahon High School. What people don't expect is getting to know one of McMahons coolest teachers ever. Ever wonder how she was like when she was 17?
Through out high school Mrs.Harris was considered a edgy, cool girl. Growing up in Hamden, CT, Mrs.Harris’s high school years were a roller coaster, and for the most part very positive. With her schedule consisting with not only her regular classes but a place on the rugby team, being a writer for the literary magazine, tech lighting person for the drama club, and a job, everyday she had to be proactive.
Some of the best memories she's had was just sitting on a picnic table at the West Haven beach at 3:00a.m and talking while her and her friend steph stared up at the sky. To her it felt like freedom and she loved the time spent with her. “I can't believe our parents didn't keep better track of us. We could have been doing terrible stuff!”
Due to the fact that Mrs.Harris’s family was dealing with financial problems, she had to get a job as soon as possible to help support her family. Many obstacles in her life through high school made her a better person today.
Mrs.Harris teaches U.S History, and World History at Brien McMahon High School. Some of her hobbies include rugby, running, reading science fiction/fantasy novels, and of course caring for her cats.
Her goals in high school were to be able to pay all her bills and not worry about getting evicted/the utilities being shut off. she wanted her family to be secure and not feel like there was always a crisis happening. she also really wanted to travel.
Mrs.Harris accomplished all the goals she had for herself and actually has traveled to France, England, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Israel, Tanzania, Aruba, and Canada.
Her positive and fun attitude has always been with her and she's used the lessons she's learned in highschool molded her to become the amazing person she is today.
