For some people, they have to work, grind, and be a leader to be the best player they can be on the field and for others, they are born to be on the field and show their talent, but for these young athletic superstars they have both aspects in them, the potential to work hard and have the talent.
“I want to get stronger. I want a better IQ for the game! I want my teammates to improve and the Junior Varsity to improve for the program” says Lila Young (‘21), who plays for the Brien McMahon Softball Team, who had a great year starting as a freshman on varsity. Having a good year going 29-48, .604, 14 RIBs, 16 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs. Even after a good year, Young still isn't a 100% impressed with her overall season performance and says she can still improve and can still do better. Besides being a great athlete, she's well in the classroom as well.
Another big stand out that the Brien McMahon should definitely look out for is Sophomore Girls Lacrosse player, Anna Makover, who had an amazing start to her freshman year playing lacrosse, leading her team with the most goals (total of 43 goals.) It's not just the goals she is worried about, she wants to lead the team, get assists and does whatever it takes, saying, “I like setting up my teammates, giving assists and leading this great team hopefully.” But besides being a great teammate and a leader, she has the qualities of being athletic and a really good lacrosse player. Having a great IQ and an understanding of the game and the great experience, playing the game of lacrosse since 5th grade. Saying,”Yeah I love the game, i've been playing since 5th grade with my closest friends making memories that I’ll always remember.”
