Welcome to the Spanish Dance Cub! These students performed tonight and worked hard without the support of the school to have an amazing show well done. Many of these students didn’t have any experience in Latin dance. Very few of these men and women had to be taught how to dance and perform a choreographed dance as well. They had spent tired some hours getting their dance on point without a hitch. Most of them were super nervous because it would have been their first time performing.
Although most all of these kids are Latin descendant they didn’t have much experience. Most had stated that they had to take time out that they didn’t have from their day to stay after school for the last five months. The students had stayed with Senior Miraval organizing this show to give the student body a taste of diversity. It was organized by himself and the students and there was no help from the school. The students had to find other people within the school to help them with audio, dancing, and food ordering.
Students learned how to dance: Bachata, Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, and belly dancing. Darlene ‘19 and Yanderly ‘19 had taught these students basic steps and then help them with timing, rhythm, sensual moves, staging, and acting meanwhile dancing. Pamela ‘19 had gathered some girls to model and strut for their country for the show. She had searched for different outfits that each country is traditioned to wear. There was also singing and piano playing and some boy group singing events throughout the show.
Students represented countries from Central and South America. They proudly strutted the catwalk with their flag and a possible partner beside them. People cheered for each country because they are all great in their own way. By the end of the show Seniors were acknowledged for their timeless effort and dedication to this show and program. Students would like to thank anyone that showed up and supported them throughout the show!
