Due to the new block scheduling the school’s lunch shifts have been in chaos. This year at Brien Mcmahon the school has recently switched to block scheduling changing our forty-seven minute lunch period into a thirty minute lunch shift which takes place during the third period. With the change to this new schedule comes the challenges of adapting to it. While many of the problems are minor, or have already been fixed by the school,. there is still one pretty major problem with the way the school has dealt with the lunch shifts.
The problem with the lunch shifts mostly affects the first shift. If you have had the first lunch shift you know that it is nearly impossible for you to get lunch in the first five minutes of the period. This causes a pile up of students near the main stairwell right in front of the servery. By the time they finally let kids into the servery a large amount of time has gone by. With a significant amount of time gone by this has kids rushing to eat before they have to go to class. Sometimes many of the kids do not have have time to even finish eating which is a very big problem.
However you can minimize the amount of time dealing with this problem by following some of these helpful tips.
