Have you ever seen a music video and found yourself wondering who filmed it? He may not be the star behind these videos, but some may consider him the smarts of the production.
Peter Soares (‘21), is passionate about editing and filming videos. He’s been interested in doing this since he was young, and his vision to do it has only grown bigger and bigger. Most people have heard of Kirarce or FamousDro the Norwalk Soundcloud rappers, Pride Time will often post pieces detailing their Soundcloud presence - Peter helps them produce their videos. Soares filmed his first music video in late November 2017.
“I got into filming when I was really young, I loved watching movies, youtube videos, and skits made by other people and it inspired me to start making simple films. I bought my first camera (a Fujifilm FinePix) when I was around 11 years old and it just all progressed from there," said Soares.
He is a good student when it comes to school and he doesn’t only film music videos. He also spends time diving, playing soccer, and taking photos. He didn’t just wake up one morning and decide he wanted to be behind the camera though, he was influenced by the people he looks up to.
“I look up to JMP, Max Novak, Thirty Visuals, and Cole Bennett.”
Peter hopes to continue filming music videos as he gets older. It’s something he loves and knows he is good at.
“The day I realized that I wanted to continue producing videos was when my first music video hit 600 views, I knew I had the potential to do something great where I have fun and make money, so I decided to stick with it.”
