It's true! For the first time ever, the event of Mr. McMahon at Brien McMahon high school will not be taking place this year. Now you're probably wondering where is the senator pride? How come the male students weren't motivated enough? Many of you probably weren't even aware that this occurred, so this by all means will be giving you an insight on what exactly happened.
According to the class of 2017 most believed that, “They’re the last class of Brien McMahon with actual senator pride, after that it's all downhill .” Meaning that, every class after theirs will not be able to match the pride they have for our school.
Over the years it has been a tradition to host a male beauty pageant, where the senior males compete different themes such as bathing suits, tuxedos, and a talent show, and whoever earns the title of Mr. McMahon wins a free prom ticket. Students and Parents usually have a great time watching the show. These shows also helped raising money for the class, the show was a huge contribution for funding events such as prom, and their post graduation party. Many question the amount of pride that the class of 2017 claims they have because nothing is being done about it and they don't seem upset about it.
Social Chairman of Class of 2017’ Carlos Lopez says, “We had the meeting, we had the practices but little by little the competitors weren’t showing up and they were starting to not take it seriously”
He too believes that there’s a lack of school spirit for the class of 2017.
Tonie Bennett Senior claims, “It dramatically shows that we don’t have school spirit and we can’t claim that we do if we aren't proving, like show don't tell”
So there you have it Class of 2017 you proved yourself wrong! And definitely there are other factors proving that there's no pride… spirit week, there were no Red, White and Blue. Football games weren’t as live as they were. Everything is just not the same.
In the end students just get lazier every year. Things get played out.
